The fifth round of the FIM Superbike World Championship was hosted by the Autodromo Internacional do Algarve, where the work done before the event, was rewarded. Despite Marc García's podium in Most, the team had to continue developing the bike, since this year, several novelties were implemented in the KOVE. So, during the weekend of July 26th to 28th, both riders were training at Barcelona-Catalunya circuit.
With clearest ideas, KOVE Racing Team reached the #PortugueseWorldSBK, placing both bikes in the top ten from Free Practice, Marc García in fourth place and Julio García eighth. Although they were not so lucky on Friday's afternoon, in Superpole more than fifteen riders were penalized by slow sectors, including #48. It wasn't until the next day when the final grid positions were known. The Former World Champion started from eighth place while Julio did it from the back of the grid, in twenty-fourth position.
Marc García fought for victory throughout the race, implementing a record pace from the beginning, that made only four riders escape from the rest and opened distance with the chasing group, to which Julio arrived, finishing in ninth position. #22 was again the one who took KOVE to the podium, in third position, after avoiding several collisions and crashes, including that of the until then leader of the championship, Iñigo Iglesias.
On Sunday came the best result in KOVE's history, both riders were able to fight for the victory, it was a war between the KOVE Racing Team and the MTM Kawasaki, (several times World Champions). It was not decided until the finish line, where finally Marc was the one who ended up off the podium, in fourth place. The young Malaga driver added a new third place, positioning the Chinese brand with 123 points in the manufacturers standings, ahead of KTM, and only 29 points behind Yamaha.
On the other hand, Marc García ranked fifth in the championship standings, ten points behind the fourth classified. An almost perfect weekend, where hard work paid off.
