New race weekend for the KOVE Racing Team, the second event of the WorldSSP300 took place on the mythical track of Netherlands, the TT-Circuit Assen. A circuit that is characterised by its weather conditions. During this weekend, the cold and rain were the protagonist, and our riders suffered the difficulties of rolling dry and wet track at the same time.
On Friday, the free practice served to check circuit conditions and test the setting of the bike. Luck was not on our side in the Superpole, when Julio García had his pole position deleted as yellow flags were out when he set it, he had to start the race in the twenty-eighth position. On the other hand, Marc García managed his qualifying session with wet tires and finished in ninth place.
On Saturday, despite starting in twenty-eighth place, Julio managed to come back and reached the second position in just two laps. It was then when Jeffrey Buis, who led the race, crashed and unfortunately García #48 could not avoid him. Julio entered Pit Lane and the Team could repair his bike but by race regulations, he could not rejoin. Marc García finished ninth, also saving several riders crashing in front of him.
Continuing with the bad luck, with five laps to go, Julio made a manoeuvre, to avoid colliding with another rider at Assen's final chicane, losing several positions, even so, it was not enough, since at the end of the race, and getting his second podium with KOVE, race direction added a three-second penalty that sent him to tenth place. Garcia #22 crashed with another rider at the beginning of race two, but fortunately he is okay and he will be ready for next round.
